Personal profile
I study Natural Resource and Environmental Management (MA) at Aksum University and Physical Geography (MA) at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. I earned my B.Ed. in Geography and History from Jimma University. Professionally, I have served in various academic and leadership roles, including Director for Community Engagement and University-Industry Linkage (2023–2024), Research and Publication Officer (2021–2023), and Head of the Department of Geography (2017–2021) in addition to my teaching, and research roles at Raya University. Prior to this, I served at Abbiyi Addi College of Teachers’ Education and Educational Leadership as a lecturer in the Department of Geography, Tigray, Ethiopia. My research focuses on the link between environmental systems and human resilience, particularly climate change impacts, adaptation mechanisms, and sustainable natural resource management such as grazing land and forest conservation. More recently, I have focused on long-term social and environmental changes, the dynamics of natural and man-made disasters, and disaster risk reduction. I have contributed to various research and community development projects, including the Ayba wet grazing land rehabilitation and management, and Guguf flood irrigation management in South Tigray, Ethiopia. I have also delivered and participated in numerous trainings on research methods, SPSS, and environmental rehabilitation, including work on Wejig forest. Additionally, I have developed teaching materials in Geomorphology and Natural Resource Management for undergraduate geography students.
