Personal profile

Ivan Milić completed his undergraduate and master’s studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Banja Luka. He defended his undergraduate thesis in 2018 entitled “Factors and Characteristics of the Development of the Settlement of Brčko”, and his master’s thesis in 2020 entitled “Cross-Border Cooperation as a Factor of Development and Integration of the Brčko District into Contemporary Regional Processes”.
Since 2024, he has been enrolled in a master’s programme in Geography at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP), and in 2025 he enrolled in doctoral studies at the same university and faculty. The proposed topic of his master’s thesis is “The political-geographical relationship between the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska and an assessment of their socio-economic development”, while the topic of his proposed doctoral dissertation is “Crossing the line: everyday strategies and development models for divided rural settlements in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
His scientific interests are primarily focused on regional, rural, and economic geography. Given that his research mainly addresses the Balkan Peninsula, especially the territory of the former Yugoslavia, he is also interested in political geography, geopolitics, ethnology, history, and other scientific fields that can contribute to the study of this specific and highly complex area.
